The school board hopes to develop special training for staff and awareness programs for students to make them comfortable with issues that might arise from students coming out in their classrooms. 'The issue that I'm focusing on is the student who would like to come out and doesn't feel that there's enough support or doesn't feel safe in the schools.' 'You would like to be able to say that everybody is allowed to be who they want to be as long as they're not harming other people, but there are definitely a lot of students who would feel discriminated ,' Smith said.
